Franciscan Community

We follow the Rule of the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Regular of Saint Francis, part of the worldwide Franciscan family.

We celebrate our Franciscan heritage—a tradition so loved by our Foundress Blessed Mary Angela. Inspired by the spirituality of Saint Francis of Assisi, Blessed Mary Angela called her Sisters to live as Saint Francis had lived—in simplicity and humility; as living examples of the Gospel message; and in compassionately caring for and serving the poor and oppressed.

Blessed Mary Angela was compelled, as was Saint Francis, to live the Gospel, ever mindful of Saint Francis’ admonition: “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.”  This adherence to the Gospel, along with Saint Francis’ faithfulness to the Church and its teachings, his fervent love of the Eucharist as well as his love of Mary, comprised the spiritual foundation upon which Blessed Mary Angela forged our Felician Franciscan community. These four aspects of Franciscan spirituality—the evangelical, ecclesial, Eucharistic, and Marian—are central to the Felician Franciscan Sisters’ way of life.

As Saint Francis heeded God’s call “to rebuild my Church,” we, too, respond to God’s call to help bring about the spiritual renewal of the world as we strive to bring spiritual healing to those who are broken, hope where there is despair, and the Gospel message to all.
